  • Pesca, WWF: una lettera a ministri Ue per quella sostenibile

    Roma - (Adnkronos) - Wwf, BirdLife International, Fish Fight, Ocean2012, Oceana, Paint a fish, invitano i cittadini europei a scrivere al proprio ministro, per l'Italia il ministro Nunzia De Girolamo, per invitarli a fermare la bancarotta dei mari, lasciando che gli stock ittici si rigenerino. "In Europa abbiamo bisogno di nuove leggi sulla pesca che permettano agli stock ittici di rigenerarsi, che favoriscano la pesca sostenibile, che evitino gli scarti di pesca, che mantengano i prelievi entro limiti sostenibili e che mettano fine ai sussidi a pioggia e che mantengano i posti di lavoro del settore", spiega Marco Costantini, responsabile Mare Wwf Italia.

    Σήμα κινδύνου για δεκάδες χιλιάδες θέσεις εργασίας στον αλιευτικό τομέα αλλά και για τα ιχθυαποθέματα των Ελληνικών θαλασσών εξέπεμψαν σε κοινή Συνέντευξη Τύπου, το Ινστιτούτο Θαλάσσιας Προστασίας «Αρχιπέλαγος» και το Πανευρωπαϊκό Δίκτυο για την Αλιεία Ocean2012. Οι κρίσιμες αποφάσεις για την αναθεώρηση της  Κοινής Αλιευτικής Πολιτικής (ΚΑλΠ) θα ληφθούν την Πέμπτη και από τη στάση που θα κρατήσουν τα Ευρωπαϊκά Υπουργεία Αλιείας θα κριθεί το  μέλλον του αλιευτικού τομέα ο οποίος είναι ζωτικής σημασίας για τη χώρα μας καθώς εξασφαλίζει ένα σημαντικό μέρος των προϊόντων διατροφής των πολιτών, αλλά δίνει δουλειά και σε  περίπου 40.000 οικογένειες.

    Using a global meta-analysis of overfished stocks, we find that resilience of those stocks subjected to moderate levels of overfishing is enhanced, not compromised, offering the possibility of swift recovery. However, prolonged intense overexploitation, especially for collapsed stocks, not only delays rebuilding but also substantially increases the uncertainty in recovery times, despite predictable influences of fishing and life history. Timely and decisive reductions in harvest rates could mitigate this uncertainty.
